Established on the 21st February 1836 pursuant to the Municipal Corporations Act 1835 with a strength of 30 officers. At the time of amalgamation in 1968 its strength had grown to 251.

Description: Dark blue body & bonnet; black chassis, cab tilt & rear canopy; black radiator grille; dull dark red seats; gold plated parts; gold 12 spoke wheels; 'READING POLICE' in light yellow on both sides of truck body; Readding Police emblem on both sides of canopy; 'POLICE' and 'AC162' in light yellow on rear of load bed.

Variations: Model may have gold 12 spoke or solid red wheels.
Cab tilt and canopy can be black or grey.

Notes/Certificate: This model is packaged in either a maroon (Y26) or a straw-style (Y13) window box and includes a limited edition certificate of authenticity signed by the Chief Constable of the Thames Valley Police..
